Good News!

We all know that the word "Gospel" means good news!  The good news is that Jesus steps into our world in order to save us from all that is not life-giving, whether it be sin,  worry, resentment, wounds and hurts that keep us bound to the past, our own narrowness, boredom, indifference, blindness, selfishness, anger, our suspicions, doubts, negativity or fears.  Jesus comes to give us life, and the more abundant life.

But there is a battle each of us must fight within ourselves in order to fully receive all that Jesus wants to give.  And that battle will manifest differently in all of our lives. But at the core of it will always be our need to surrender and completely trust God's love for us, while facing our own resistance to this surrender.  This is the battle we all must engage in and win if we are to come to eternal happiness.  It's not good enough to acknowledge God, even God as our Lord and Savior, if we continue to live life without any change, especially those changes He personally asks each one of us to make.

The Lord is so good and kind and solicitous to help us do all that we find difficult even knowing it will be what makes us fulfilled and capable of living face to Face with Him.  This is our ultimate destiny.  How beautifully personal Jesus is with each of us, in bringing us to this state.

This little reflection on Good News and the purpose of Good News, leads into Sr. Lucina's latest update.  Sister had blood work done yesterday to determine whether her tumor markers were increasing or decreasing.  When they decrease, it is a sign that the treatments are arresting the spread of the disease and even reversing it.  It is a good sign and it is one we rejoice to share with you today.

Sister had a reading today, about 2 and a half weeks after her last reading, that shows a 25% decrease.  This means that the treatment is working right now and taking Sister in the right direction.  There is a long way to go and she needs continued prayer and support.  But I will let her tell you in her own words how grateful she is.

It’s wonderful to be back in Iowa, and I am most grateful that it is not snowing anymore! Thank you everyone for your ‘welcome homes’ and especially for three mysterious little young artists who left our front patio a colorful collage of “well wishes” and “welcome backs”

These past months I have been overwhelmed by the love of my new community here, and want you to know you are set deeply in my heart and my prayers. I am constantly aware that there are so many here besides myself who are struggling with either cancer or another very serious painful illness. We all walk together in the Body of Christ and I pray He is making Himself very present in your daily moments to comfort you.

I had a lovely two weeks in Oregon visiting my family after my three weeks at the Hope4cancer Clinic. My Mom is worried of course, but overall doing quite well.  My daughter Lindsay was there for the entire two weeks, and it was such a Gift from God to be with her like that, we have not had a time like that since I entered the Convent. I am afraid I worked her pretty hard, caring for me and making our food, etc….

This is indeed a precious gift from God, to walk with Him in His passion, and unite myself to Him so that a multitude, MILLIONS of souls may be saved! May God be Praised!
